As the MacBook Air has no FireWire connectors at all, it is incompatible with the Konnekt / PowerCore. We are not aware of any types of adapters/converters that would enable the Konnekt / PowerCore to work with this laptop model. More info: Konnekt / PowerCore: Using USB to FireWire converter.

The MacBook models (launched in October 2008) have no FireWire connectors at all, they are incompatible with the Konnekt / PowerCore. We are not aware of any types of adapters/converters that would enable the Konnekt / PowerCore to work with these laptops. More info: Konnekt / PowerCore: Using USB to FireWire converter. MacBook models launched prior to October 2008, have a single

FireWire 400 port and are compatible with the Konnekt / PowerCore. If you are not sure which model you have, please refer to the Apple product specifications.

The MacBook Pro models have a FireWire 800 (FW800) port, but no FireWire 400 (FW400). However, the Konnekt / PowerCore are compatible with this model, in three ways:
  • FW800 is backwards compatible with FW400, so you only need a relatively cheap FW800-to-FW400 cable,
  • A more robust but more expensive solution, would be to buy a dedicated FW800-to-FW400 adapter, such as this one.
  • You can also add an ExpressCard/34 based FW400 adapter and connect the Konnekt / PowerCore directly to that.
