BEFORE YOU BEGIN/YOU WILL NEED

  1. Turn on your device and let it warm up for at least 30 minutes.
  2. A small screwdriver (such as those used on glasses) for adjusting the trim pots.
  3. An oscilloscope, frequency monitor or similar device (either hardware, plugins, or software such as Soundcard Oscilloscope)

There are 3 trim pots found on this device. 1 next to the OSC1 frequency faders, and 2 next to the OSC2 frequency faders. You may find small plastic caps covering these – you will need to remove these to access the pots below.

These trim pots act as small “knobs” that you will turn to adjust the related setting.

Set your Odyssey to the following:

  • TRANSPOSE – Normal/Central https://i.imgur.com/iDRda8s.png
  • VCO1 & VCO2 - Square Wave https://i.imgur.com/fSmCPkM.png
  • VCF Freq – Maximum
  • VCA GAIN – Maximum
  • VCO1 and 2 FINE FREQUENCY – Middle
  • VCO1 Audio Switch – KYBD ON
  • VCO2 Sync – OFF https://i.imgur.com/pl8NkFJ.png
  • All other faders down

STEPS

  1. Connect HIGH OUTPUT to your computer
  2. Monitor this input using your oscilloscope
    VCO1
  3. Raise VCO1 (Audio Mixer) fader to maximum
  4. “HOLD” low C on the keyboard
  5. Adjust VCO1 COARSE FREQUENCY until the oscilloscope reads exactly 130.8Hz
  6. “HOLD” high C on the keyboard
  7. Adjust the VCO1 V/OCT trim pot until oscilloscope reads exactly 1046.5Hz
  8. Lower VCO1 (Audio Mixer) fade to minimum
    VCO2
  9. Raise VCO2 (Audio Mixer) fader to maximum
  10. “HOLD” low C on the keyboard
  11. Adjust VCO2 COARSE FREQUENCY until the oscilloscope reads exactly 130.8Hz
  12. “HOLD” high C on the keyboard
  13. Adjust the VCO2 V/OCT-1 trim pot until oscilloscope reads exactly 1046.5Hz

VCO2 V/OCT-2

These steps require two notes played simultaneously. HOLD is mono and therefore keys must be pressed manually (get a friend to help, or sellotape).
Ensure OSC2 level is at maximum and OSC1 is at 75%(or lower).

  1. Play high & low C, check frequency reading. Target = 1046.5Hz

*If you can see a reading around 130.8Hz, turn OSC1 down until it shows closer to 1046.5Hz*

  1. Adjust the VCO2 V/OCT-2 trim pot until oscillator reads exactly 1046.5Hz

Your Odyssey should now be in tune and sound beautiful 😊
