Sample and Hold is a circuit found in many analogue synthesizers. It takes an input signal and 'freezes' the voltage upon input. After a short period of time, the circuit unfreezes and takes the next value from the continuous signal and 'freezes' the value again, creating a digital stepping effect.

On the Neutron, Sample and Hold is represented by two dials labelled RATE and GLIDE. The rate represents the sample rate and the glide adjusts the rate of transition between sampled notes.

The Sample and Hold feature can be used to modulate various parameters on the Neutron, most notably the oscillator to hear the modulation in pitch. Simply patch S&H to OSC1+2 on the patch bay to hear the modulation in action.
