The AES50 Protocol is used across all Midas and Behringer IO product rage, including the XL8, PRO series, M32 Series, X32 Series, WING and HD96.
In all cases, cables must be Cat5e STP (Shielded Twisted Pairs) if unsure, please read this link.
Products that are limited to either 96k or 48k sample rates are incompatible with each other, but many of the blue PRO series IO boxes offer 48k/96k switchable options so that M32/X32 users can obtain access to the classic Midas preamp. The greater percentage of consoles and IO boxes will work on 100m point to point (from console to IO box with no breaks) however some models are limited to 80m either due to product age or being the subject of a different design platform.
This presents an important consideration for users when choosing IO boxes and consoles they plan to connect together:
- the longest length published will be subject to a limitation in physical distance when being used in conjunction with an IO box or console that offers a shorter physical connection.
For example: a PRO1 that specifies 100m as its maximum length will not be achievable with a DL451 given its 80m limit.
For greater clarity please take a look at the helpful cable length cheat-sheet below:
