How to locate an application that is stealing your ports. 

Open command prompt   -   click START -> type “cmd” -> Press ENTER 

Show Active Connections -   Type “netstat -ano” -> Press ENTER 


Locate the port in use and note the corresponding PID (Process identifier)

RED BOX = Port      GREEN BOX = PID (Process identifier) 

Open Task Manager – Press “Ctrl + Alt + Delete” -> Click “Start Task Manager” -> Click “Processes” 

Unhide the PID column – Click “View” -> Click  “Select Columns…”  

Ensure the “PID (Process Identifier)” box is ticked -> click “OK” 


Locate the previously noted PID number in task manager to see what application is using the port.
