On the BUGERA 1960 INFINIUM, the actual inputs will work as switches. For example, when you connect a 1/4" connector to the UPPER LEFT INPUT, this will essentially engage an internal switch that will combine channels 1 and 2 in parallel, giving you the same effect as using a patch cable between both channels. For the UPPER LEFT INPUT to work as an individual input, both the UPPER LEFT and UPPER RIGHT inputs will need to be used at the same time. 

Due to the internal switching design of the UPPER LEFT and UPPER RIGHT inputs, you will not be able to jump the inputs with a patch cable.
